Quickstart

This guide gets one tool working end to end: a GitHub account connected for a user called me, and Claude Code calling it over MCP.

1. Create a project and an API key

Sign up at prompt-tm.com/sign-up. Your first project is created for you. Open Settings → API keys, create a key and copy it. It starts with ptm_ and is shown once.

export PROMPT_TM_KEY=ptm_...

2. Add an auth config for GitHub

An auth config says how a toolkit is authenticated in your project. In the dashboard, open Auth configs → New, choose GitHub and the Access token method. Or with the API:

curl -X POST https://www.prompt-tm.com/api/v3/auth_configs \
  -H "x-api-key: $PROMPT_TM_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "toolkit": { "slug": "github" }, "auth_config": { "auth_scheme": "BEARER_TOKEN" } }'

The answer contains auth_config.id (ac_...).

3. Connect an account

A connected account is one user's credentials for one auth config. You can hand your user a hosted link, or pass a token you already have:

curl -X POST https://www.prompt-tm.com/api/v3/connected_accounts/link \
  -H "x-api-key: $PROMPT_TM_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "auth_config_id": "ac_...", "user_id": "me" }'

Open redirect_url in a browser and paste a GitHub personal access token. The account turns ACTIVE.

4. Create an MCP server

In MCP servers → New, pick GitHub. Copy the URL, which looks like https://www.prompt-tm.com/mcp/mcp_....

5. Add it to Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http github \
  "https://www.prompt-tm.com/mcp/mcp_...?user_id=me" \
  --header "x-api-key: $PROMPT_TM_KEY"

Ask Claude: "List my GitHub repositories updated this week." The call shows up under Logs in the dashboard.
